The documentary „Who, If Not Us? The Fight for Democracy in Belarus“ offers a unique insight into the fight for democracy in Belarus and the life of 3 women after the protests following the presidential election in 2020. These protests were the largest in Belarus’s history, but they were brutally suppressed. Many protesters were arrested and sentenced to long prison terms.
Over the course of a whole year, the film follows these extraordinary women from different generations, all of whom continue to fight tirelessly for their rights.
The director Juliane Tutein has already received several awards for her films about Belarus. She paints an impressive picture of women in Belarus who struggle daily against oppression.
